Introduction to planning and researching.

Before I start my actually main task I am going to do some planning and research on all of the aspects that are considered when make a movies trailer. The first thing I am going to look at is the audience, im going to do this by watching different trailers and analysing the different concepts in each trailer and comparing them to each other.

The first trailer I watched was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibMV4ZOYHh4 , this trailer is very fast paced and appears to have some violent scenes, so from a first look at it, the audience would automatically assume that this film is for an older audience. The audience expectations from this trailer would probably go down the line of that this film is going to be upbeat, tense and have a hint of mystery, this is because the trailer has a lots of cuts so it does not reveal the full picture leaving the audience wanting more. This film has a lot of non diegetic sound through out the trailer but on the tense and mysterious moments the non diegetic sound fades out. My group could use this technique in our trailer to make it look more professional.

The second trailer I watched was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PH-n39PCXp8 , because this trailer is quite slow to get going and the is no main views of violence or bad language the audience will aspect that the film is for a teenage and over audience this is because the conversations in the trailer would be difficult to grasp if a younger child was watching it.The audience will except the film to be quite summarising, this is because its a sequel. its made clear that its a sequel in the trailer by not really introducing charters but more as though just re visiting there lives, so that will be the main expectation for the audience. Towards the end of the trailer the amounts of cuts increase and the non diegetic sound comes in. This is building tension, so therefore making the audience feel on edge and adding a cliff hanger feel. These are all really good qualities to have in a trailer.

The third and final trailer I watched was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucGQFYqnEzg. This trailer is faced paced though out, this is because of all the jump cuts. however there is a couple bits of elongated action, this is in the middle where its leaving the audience thinking what's happening next and at the end where it summarises what's happened in the middle but still leaves the audience in suspense. The audience will expect this film to be for a older audience because from the trailer you can see there is going to be violence and explicit language through out the film. Similar to the film above because its a sequel it will be targeted to that specific audience who watched the first film.
